The Tourism Society elects new chair

The Tourism Society has elected a new chair, Deborah Heather, at its 45th anniversary annual general meeting.

Heather is chief executive at QIA Services, the parent company of Quality in Tourism (QIT), with a background in hospitality and retail.

Alison Cryer, head of secretariat at the society, said the new chair has skills in business development, business planning and strategy, operations and people management, describing her as “a natural leader with strong entrepreneurial skills”.

Heather said: “I look forward to developing a post-Covid strategy, building on the strengths gained during Covid under the chairmanship of Kevin Kaley, in order to grow and serve the membership from a regional, live and virtual perspective.”

QIT is also the Tourism Society’s latest corporate partner. It works with hospitality, tourism, and leisure companies, helping to improve business performance and profile.

It joins long-standing corporate partners Visit Wales, Go to Places, Sykes Holiday Cottages, The Caravan and Motorhome Club, Geotourist, Kemosabe and Broadcast Revolution.
